How to add a custom domain to a static site

A subdomain like name.tuqo.ru is fine to start with, but a brand needs its own domain, say mysite.com. Here is how to connect it to a static site and turn on HTTPS.

What you need

• A registered domain and access to its DNS settings (at your registrar or DNS host).
• A site published on Tuqo.
• A paid plan or add-on. Custom domains are included from the Start plan (590 ₽/month); on the Free plan you can add one with the Custom domain add-on (149 ₽/month). Without either, the site works on its name.tuqo.ru subdomain. SSL is free on every plan. Details and approximate dollar and euro prices are on the pricing page.

Step 1. Add the domain in the panel

On the site page, open the Domains tab, enter your domain and click Add. Tuqo shows the two records to create in DNS, each with a copy button.

Step 2. Add the DNS records

In your DNS settings, add:

• an A record that points the domain to the platform’s serving address (the panel shows the IP on the domain card);
• a TXT record _tuqo-verify that proves the domain is yours.

The records are the same at every registrar; only the menu names differ (“DNS”, “DNS records”, “Zone editor”, “Manage DNS”). If your DNS is on Cloudflare, see the Cloudflare guide: the proxy (orange cloud) must be turned off.

mysite.com and www.mysite.com are different names. If you want both, add www as a separate domain in the panel with its own records.

Step 3. Verify and wait for HTTPS

Click Verify domain. DNS does not update instantly: it usually takes from a few minutes to an hour. Once the domain is verified, HTTPS turns on automatically: a free SSL certificate is issued and then renewed on its own.

Common problems

• “The TXT record was not found or does not match”: DNS hasn’t propagated yet, or the record has a typo. Check it, wait and try again.
• “A record points elsewhere”: the domain is verified, but the site won’t open on it. The check shows where the A record points now and which value it should have. Fix it at your registrar and click Check again on the domain card.
• The site opens without HTTPS: the certificate is issued after ownership is verified; give it a couple of minutes.
